We love love love when our clients hire us and the photographer (in this case, Corbin Gurkin) for all or most of the wedding weekend events. I feel that it really gets to tell the full story, and we can cultivate a complimentary and corresponding look and feel that guests can experience all weekend. For this wedding, recently featured in Charleston Weddings, the rehearsal dinner was a fabulously fun wedding eve at the William Aiken House.

Al fresco lounge seating was set on the lawn for guests to leisurely enjoy their first night in Charleston.  Local blooms like camelias offered a bright pop to the navy, white, and green evening.

The William Aiken House has sweeping porches perfect for lounging and cocktails. Guests get a prime view of King Street, which anchors Charleston’s most popular entertainment district.

Calligraphied seating cards were perched atop mini lawns of rye grass. When hosting an event at this venue, we really like to utilize as many of the rooms as possible so that guests get to see detail of the historic restoration. People really enjoy getting to feel as if they are a guest in one of Charleston grande old homes.

White blooms and greenery made for an lovely and elegant tabletop design.  Small details like embroidered cocktail napkins and cut crystal candles and glassware formalize the affair.

It’s always fun to see the groom’s personality reflected in a cake! Of course Jim Smeal can make every request look incredible!

I thought this Needle & Thread dress was so elegant and unexpected for a rehearsal dinner… I’m really into long sleeves when they work for the occasion and season.

Come by our new office on Queen Street for a pop up shop from Lela Rose’s Pearl line… Our friends from New York are coming down to debut their line in Charleston… We hear there will even be a match your margarita to your dress bar!  Come shop with us next week.  And, we are sharing details from the last time Lela Rose was in Charleston for a book signing brunch we hosted at my Charleston home.

We loved having Lela Rose in town for Charleston Wedding Week. I’m a big fan of her designs, and she’s a fellow Southerner! In order to celebrate the release of her new book- Pret-A-Party we decided to throw a Biscuits, Bloodys, and Book Signing party in her honor. Love having Friday a.m. parties now, going to make it my new thing!

Perfect for a ladies’ brunch, little Callie’s Biscuits in a variety of flavors- ham, jam, and cinnamon.

We set up a Do-It-Yourself Bloody Mary bar with every addition you could think of- peppers, pickled okra, shrimp skewers, even bacon slices. For those needing to go back to work we had a juice bar with fruit and veg garnishes as well. Just putting in simple containers with nice signage makes for a lovely focal point.

It’s been about a month since we returned from the Engage 18! conference in Banff, Canada.  It was a stunningly beautiful location, and I always love reconnecting with old friends.  Thank you to the ever talented Cameron Clark for sharing these amazing photos.

The host hotel was the historic Fairmont Banff Springs.. Rumor is it’s haunted but we didn’t experience any of that business.  They were a gracious host for us, and the scenery can’t be beat.  It was so wild that it didn’t actually ever get really dark, light until about 11pm, and sun up again at about 4am.  This year as I took the main stage, I wanted to share what sets the vendors we work with apart from others.  We always say yes to our clients and deliver beyond their expectations, so vendors that help us do that are what we are looking for.

I also got to host a table at the dine arounds… We were at The Balkan Restaurant, a greek spot in the middle of downtown Banff… So much fun, I enjoyed all of my table mates so much and the restaurant was fabulous, we even broke plates at the end of the night in true Greek form.

We love our Jordan Kahn! He is the best at service… And, so fun, he always hosts friends on some type of boat ride.  We did a Yacht on the Seine in Paris together which was one of the highlights of that trip. This time, we did a raft float down the Bow River and had a blast!
