Now that the holidays are in full swing, we wanted to share a few more ideas on making your holiday table lovely- with easy and effortless tips. We shared our top 5 with the Charleston CVB blog recently, but here are some more sure to get your hostess hat ready for the holidays. Easy embellishments pack a lot of punch. Snipping a few branches or blooms out of the yard (or even desconstructing store bought blooms) and tucking them into simple napkin folds give a professional touch.  I also love to layer my place settings-something traditional or classic as the anchor with something more detailed on top.

Keeping something classic as the base or charger will also allow you to use more of the special pieces you only break out a few times a year. Layered tables can be so pretty- walk around the house and pull things out of cabinets and bookshelves to give a more eclectic look. For a small dinner party, you can also hand write place cards or menus. Think about using materials other than paper or traditional pen and ink.

Stepping up your napkin design by trying different folds and embellishments is a super affordable and simple step. Ribbons, twine/raffia, bakers’ twine, anything you may have around the house like that would be pretty!

The most important tip we can offer though it to have a safe and happy holiday season. Savor the time with your friends and family, and enjoy the meaning of all getting together.

Happy Monday!  Today I wanted to share one of my new favorite ideas- Chic Sketch! Chic Sketch is a live fashion illustration service and a new & innovative way to turn your wedding photos and guests into custom fashion sketches.

– Wedding Chic Sketch Kiosk with real fashion illustrators. It’s like a photo booth but better, because we sketch you and your guests!

– Pre Wedding and Post Wedding Sketches- On this note, I think having sketches of each of your bridesmaids done to ask them to be a bridesmaid would be such a sweet and personal idea.  And, using your sketch on to make custom notecards with your new married name after the wedding would be so great!

-They are also starting to make great gift items like cell phone covers and picture frames, which would also be a fabulous engagement gift for any friends getting married, hostess gift around the holidays, or wedding party gifts.

florence-door-1

This summer, I had the honor speaking at the Destination Wedding Planners Congress in Florence, Italy. During the little downtime I had, I walked and walked to explore the city. The thing I kept noticing the most was all of the amazing doors! Here is a roundup of some of my favorites for this Travel Tuesday.

The other thing that I found incredible was the attention to detail many of these doors had. From carved panels, to guilded pieces, and forged door knockers, there was so much to see even up close.

I was so inspired by all of the color and beauty I saw, I came home and painted my front door green!
